In the city of Kharkiv close to the Russian border in Ukraine, Ukrainian and Russian speaking Ukrainians get together to tell the common story of fleeing from conflict in the musical performance A PIE OF PARALLEL REALITIES. The performance consists of the stories of people displaced or forced to flee from the Donbas region.
The performance represents stories from both sides of the conflict and focuses on the personal and individual consequences of being in the middle of an international conflict, being driven away from your home town, to become your neighbour’s enemy, to lose your closed ones and to see your dreams disappear regardless of your ethnicity.
The performance was played for two weeks in fall 2016 in Kharkiv and will tour Ukraine in spring 2017.
This project in Ukraine and the performance was part of a process to create a platform of interaction between Ukrainians with different backgrounds between the internally displaced and the residents of the host city Kharkiv that has received large number of refugees, and between Ukrainian and Russian speaking groups.
10 radio podcasts were produced consisting of interviews with the organisers, trainers, creators and participants, and the stories of participants that are not included in the show itself. https://soundcloud.com/user-240452362
